2018 CAMS Hospital & Institute Resource Development and Service Symposium Held

In order to further promote the work of information resources guarantee and services of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS), the Medical Information Resources and Knowledge Service Center of the Institute of Medical Information (IMI) & Library (IMI & Library) held “Symposium on CAMS Hospital & Institute Resource Development and Services” on April 11, 2018. Qing Qian, vice head of IMI & Library, attended the symposium and made a speech. Also present at the symposium were over 70 persons from Fuwai Hospital, PUMC Hospital, Cancer Hospital, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Pathogen Biology, Institute of Materia Medica, Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Suzhou Institute of Systems Medicine, and School of Humanities, etc. 

 

 

 

At the symposium, Director Huiling Ren gave an account of the thoughts on the work related to library document information resources, proposed that all the libraries of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College (CAMS&PUMC) work together on the work related to document acquisition, user education, expert group, and achieving common development and shared growth, and helping realize scientific research innovation of CAMS&PUMC. Director Junlian Li made a report on the development and utilization of various information resources of library for 2018, analyzed the challenges we face and corresponding countermeasures. Junhui Wang, Deputy Director of the Reader’s Service Department, introduced the “System for Library Electronic Resources Remote Access Services and Mobile Identity Authentication”. Fen Zhang, Director of the Information Consultation Department, introduced the exploration and practices of CAMS scientific research support services. Yang Li and Xingzhe Zhang talked about the methods for using the SinoMed database, Endnote document management software, ClinicalKey, and scopus, respectively.

 

The symposium focused on the staged achievements of the Biomedical Technological Information Support Platform, an innovative program of CAMS&PUMC, of which mobile identity authentication, knowledge services embedded in the scientific research process, and onboard training attracted wide attention from the participants, who made heated discussions on mobile authentication information security, email management, and development of rules and regulations, etc., and recommended making active communications with relevant departments of CAMS&PUMC and promoting the applications through strengthening training.

 

 

 

The symposium strengthened scientific research administrations’ understanding of information resources and services of the IMI & Library. Moreover, it is a professional training of and communications between librarians of the IMI & Library schools and institutes, and is expected to help all institutes and hospitals work together to keep increasing their document information support and service abilities by relying on new technologies.
