CAMS & PUMC Appoints AAS Member Hao Wu as Honorary Professor


At the invitation of CAMS & PUMC President Xuetao Cao, Prof. Hao Wu of Harvard Medical School paid a visit to CAMS & PUMC on December 21, 2016. An outstanding alumnus of PUMC, she was awarded a certificate of honorary professor by the President.


Prof. Hao Wu is a world-famous structural immunologist, and became a member of the American Academy of Sciences (AAS) in 2015. She was admitted to PUMC for a major in clinical medicine in 1982, and received a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from Purdue University in 1992. She became a professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2003, and has served as a professor of biochemistry and molecular pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and research fellow at Boston Children's Hospital since 2012. One of her main research areas is to elucidate the protein structure of immune receptors, especially innate immune receptors, through X-ray crystallography and electron microscopy, and analyze the molecular mechanisms of signal transduction of immune receptors.



Prof. Wu harbors deep affections for her alma mater, and has provided constructive suggestions on the research and teaching activities of PUMC, hoping to strengthen cooperation with PUMC to promote medical innovation.
