Professor Xuetao Cao, President of CAMS and PUMC and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering. He studied for his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctor’s Degree from 1981 to 1990 in the Second Military Medical University; then from 1990 to 2010, he served as Lecturer and Professor in Immunology Section of the Second Military Medical University and Deputy Director and Director of Immunology Section, Vice President of the Second Military Medical University and Director of Institute for Immunology, Director of Army Key Lab for Immunity and Gene Therapy and National Key Lab for Medical Immunology; from Aug. 2010 to Aug. 2011, he served as Vice President of CAMS and PUMC; from Aug. 2011 to Nov. 2015, he worked as President of CAMS and Vice President of PUMC; from Nov. 2015 till now, he served as President of CAMS and PUMC.

He was admitted as academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005 and foreign academician of German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2013. He’s engaged in fundamental research of innate immunity and immunoregulation and applied research of immunotherapy. As a corresponding author, he had more than 230 SCI-covered papers published on Cell, Nature, Science, Nature Immunology and Cancer Cell, and his papers were cited for more than 6,000 times on SCI. He served part time as Secretary-general of FIMSA (President from 2012 to 2015), founded “Chinese Journal of Cancer Biotherapy” and worked as its Editor-in-chief, and co-edited Cellular and Molecular Immunology; he’s also Deputy Editor-in-chief of Journal of Molecular Medicine, Gene Therapy and Cancer Immunology Research, and editorial board member of Cell、Annual Review of Immunology, Science Translational Medicine, Science Advances, eLife and Cell Research. As No.1 holder, he won one second place in National Natural Science Award in 2003, two first places in Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, two first places in science and technology progress award of the army and Shanghai, four first places of Shanghai Natural Science Award, 16 National Invention Patents, and two National Type-B New Drug Certificates; he also won Guanghua Engineering Award of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Achievement Award of the First Academician Shusen Lanjuan Talent Foundation Award of Medicine, Achievement Award for Yangtze River Scholar of the Ministry of Education and Chinese Young Scientist Award. His 12 doctoral students won the honor of National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation, winning him Special Award in the First Chinese Postgraduate Education in 2014 and Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science in 2015.
